The City Council of Gijón/Xixón has presented today, Wednesday, August 24, the Local Action Plan to achieve the specific objectives for the Gijón Urban Agenda 2030. This is Phase 3 of the development process of the document that will mark the strategies and actions related to spatial planning, environmental sustainability, mobility and social cohesion.

The general director of Innovation, Patricia Zapico, and the municipal technician of the Urban Agenda team, Cristina Sariego Antuña, have explained to the members of the Commission of Citizen Participation, Districts and Public Works, held this morning in an extraordinary session in the Plenary Hall, the specific projects of the objectives already defined in Phase 2, in the previous phase, so that they can enrich them, that is, so that they can contribute proposals to the actions necessary to achieve a new city model with the horizon set in 2030.

These projects of the Action Plan of the Gijón Urban Agenda 2030 are structured in driving projects, such as the implementation of the urban naturalization master plan or the creation of ecomanzanas; and in other strategic projects, such as the intelligent management of transport or the comprehensive plan for people with disabilities. Both the driving and strategic projects are made up of specific actions, for example, safe school roads or the project against loneliness among the elderly.

To define them, citizen laboratories have been developed with the participation of 47 people (27 women and 20 men), work has been carried out with internal municipal staff of the City Council and workshops on Prioritization of Projects of the Action Plan have been held at the 65th International Trade Fair of Asturias with 456 people (286 women and 170 men). In addition, an online survey has been carried out through which 1822 responses have been obtained.
